Crystalline Glazes Surfaces:

CRYSTALLINE GLAZES

The Journey
Few years ago I was struck by a glaze on a vase made in Sèvres  I saw  on a book  and I began researching on crystalline glazes. I never stopped. Very soon I put together  many recipies and I started testing. After many, many, many tests I was more lost than ever. The variables were and are too many.  Then I had to draw a line and start from point one. Again.
Every single component of the glaze is a variable, plus:
the composition of the porcelain or stoneware surface
the firing schedule,
the amount of glaze on the piece,
the method of application,
the position in the kiln,
the load of the kiln,
the weather......
...and perhaps even the mood....

These are some of the surfaces that I have obtained so far.
